If the build fee is the problem
Two ways to pay. Both are on this page, for everyone.
Some shops would rather not write a four-figure cheque in one go. That’s a cash-flow question, not a haggling question, so there’s a published answer to it.
Pay for the build
$1,500 now + $150/mo — $3,300 over the first year
Cheaper overall. You own the site outright from day one, and the monthly only covers hosting, updates and edits.
Spread it
$0 now + $325/mo, 12 months minimum — $3,900 over the first year
Costs $600 more across the year, because I’m carrying the build. A new site generally takes six to twelve months to pay for itself, which is why the minimum term matches.
Questions I get asked
The awkward ones, answered here so you don’t have to ask.
- Will you come down on the price?
- No. Not because I’m stubborn — because the shop down the road is paying the same number and I’d like to be able to say that honestly. If $1,500 is too much, Starter is a real tier at $750, not a decoy.
- What happens if I stop paying the monthly?
- You keep the site. You own it. The monthly covers hosting, edits and backups, so you’d need to move it somewhere, and I’ll hand over the files to whoever you choose without making it difficult.
- Do I have to sign a long contract?
- Only if you pick the spread-payment option, which is twelve months. Pay the build fee up front and the monthly is month to month.
- I already have a website. Why would I want another one?
- Quite possibly you wouldn’t. If yours loads, works on a phone and you’re happy with it, I’ll tell you so. I only reach out to businesses whose site is broken, gone, or clearly hasn’t been touched in a decade.
- How long does it take?
- Usually the same week, because I build it before you say yes. That’s the whole reason I work this way — there’s nothing to wait for.
A price you can look up is a price I can’t quietly raise because your shop looks busy. That is the entire reason it’s on a page instead of in a conversation.
